Facing Fall – Practical Fashionista Tips from Stylist Kelly Henry

October 14, 2012
The rainy season is finally upon us but it doesn’t have to be all bad! It’s time to break out the boots, shake the dust off our sweaters and scarves and get layered! We asked Kelly Henry of Mamanista Image Consulting and in store stylist at Plenty Robson for some of her top tips for fall.
  • Tip #1: Fall In Vancouver means a lot of layering.  The morning can start out chilly but by the end of the day you can be melting in the hot sun if you can’t peel a layer off!
  • Tip #2:  When purchasing skinnies, take the size you think you are and add the size above and the size below to your fitting room.  Your self esteem will thank you.  Skinnies can be tricky as all brands and different colour dyes fit differently.
  • Tip #3:  Don’t be afraid to load up your change room!  The more choices you have increases the chances of you finding something that works for you.
  • Tip #4:  When selecting pieces always try to create outfits with balance.  Skinny bottoms look good with body skimming tops, and looser bottoms need something fitted on top!
  • Tip #5: Please shop for clothing items wearing the proper footwear.  If you don’t have them, we can provide them for you so you can see what the complete look is!  Don’t wear your work out runners when shopping for skinny jeans, and leave that sports bra at home.  You will end up feeling disappointed because you won’t be able to visualize the look you’re going for!
  • Tip #6: Utilize the sales staff at the store!  That’s what we are here for.  We are abreast of top trends for each season, just ask if you aren’t sure of how to wear something.
