You’ve been running around all day from the minute you woke up. You went to work early in the morning, picked up the kids from school, and now you’re preparing dinner before your husband gets home. Once everything is all done, you deserve to have a relaxing end to your day.
Glass of Vino
Before putting your feet up on the ottoman or heading out to the front porch for some time in your favorite chair, pour yourself a glass of your favorite red or white blend. Just one glass is the perfect way to get rid of extra stress. Not a fan of of alcohol? Loosen up and allow yourself to indulge in your favorite treat. Ice cream and cookies don’t count when you’re tired, right?
Read a Book
You’ve probably been flipping through mom magazines for quite some time now, but it’s time to start reading books that you love. Whether it’s a comedy, drama or romance, select a novel from a genre that you love. Perhaps you aren’t into books. If that’s the case, you can just choose fashion magazines or cooking magazines. Even sitting down with a crossword puzzle from the paper is a fantastic way to relieve stress.
Now Work It Out
When you work out, your body releases endorphins, and endorphins help to make you feel happier. Sometimes, just thinking about going off to the gym at the end of an already long day can make you more stressed out. Consider selecting a gym that is only a few minutes from your home. Another option is to go for a jog around the neighborhood. Purchasing a variety of tapes allows you to work out at home, but it also lets you have a variety of workout options. In addition to being stressed about having to get to a gym, you can also get more stressed out when you know that the same rote routine awaits you every evening.
Find a Hobby
Don’t force yourself into activities that you don’t enjoy. Does baking help you relieve tension? Does a good scrap-booking session get your mind off of the worries of the day? When you have some free time, go to the store to stock up on supplies. Whenever you have a particularly rough day, you’ll have all of the materials you need to spice things up and invigorate you for the next busy morning.
Prayer/Meditation
When you allow yourself to connect with the spiritual power in which you believe, you open up the door for relaxation and healing. Take ten to twenty minutes in the evening to be at peace with the world around you. You can practice yoga while you are meditating. You can visit a church, or pray in the comfort of your own home. While relaxation might seem like it’s quite far away after your long and busy day, just remember that you’re almost there. Once everything is put away and the kids are asleep, you can have some well-deserved time to do whatever you want. Just be sure that the activities you choose provide you with a true sense of relief.
