Finding your “ALL” in business

July 10, 2012 with 0 Comments

People think I have it all. A loving husband who makes dinner most nights, two well behaved teenage daughters, supportive family and friends, loyal employees and a successful business.

Most of the time I feel I am incredibly lucky to live my life. But not all the times have been good.

Just like you, I have had breakdowns. Feeling overwhelmed, tired, overworked, unappreciated, bored, stressed out and just plain unhappy.

This year I took a look at why I was feeling this way. Why was I feeling all these negative emotions when I really do have everything I had ever wanted? I asked myself  “When do I feel most happy, creative, uplifted and at peace”?

The answer was clear. I was happiest in “The Outdoors”.

I love being outside. I have always enjoyed hiking, kayaking, skiing, biking, running and anything else in nature. This is where I feel at peace, get creative and re connect.

For a while I stopped doing the very thing that I loved and kept me energized. I was busy with work, attending networking meetings in conference rooms, sitting watching the kids at their activities and sitting in front of the television feeling drained.  I thought if I was not sitting at my desk my business would not continue to grow and be successful. I was taking care of everyone else from staff to family and had completely forgotten about myself.

I decided to do something about it. I got back outside. As soon as I started hiking, biking or just sitting by the ocean instead of at my desk things turned around immediately. My creativity came back, I had dozens of new ideas and I was completely grounded. It was an immediate change.  Did I mention my company grew faster than it ever had before?

I am now sharing my knowledge with other moms, women and business owners.  I want to show women that by taking time to get outdoors they can be more productive, find they have all the answers they were ever looking for and feel more connected.  You do not need to spend 10 hours a day at a desk feeling stressed.

I am here to tell you there is a better way….
